Item Description

Green Tourmaline has an interesting history. An article on the American Gem Society website states, "In the 1500s, a Spanish conquistador found green tourmaline in Brazil—which he mistook for emerald. His error held until the 1800s, when mineralogists finally identified tourmaline as its own mineral species". With that said, green Tourmaline is one of the most well-known and popular colors for the material in the world. This stone has a "Cushion Brilliant" cut with a beautiful deep green color. The stone is VSI in clarity, which is honestly typical for the material, as Tourmaline is classified as a "Type-3" gemstone, due to the fact that inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors, so when you find a stone with a few inclusions, it's not frowned upon. It is a good sized gem that would make for a nice ring or a pendant. Brazil for decades has produced some very fine quality Tourmaline gems and this stone is a good example of said material.
