Item Description

Surreal, strange-looking partial tourmaline replacements from the Urubu pegmatite, well-known for such oddities. Glassy, translucent striated bottle-green tourmaline crystals have been partially replaced by quartz. Both crystals are cored with quartz and sharply terminated milky quartz dramatically projects upward from the tourmaline rinds. One is a fabulous reverse doubly terminated scepter! One side of this partially etched crystal is richly coated with tiny lepidolite crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11063 and 11064 and acquired from Mark Rogers at the Long Beach Show in 1986, when these came out. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). Highly unusual and most exotic partial pseudomorphs!
