Item Description

While Jachymov will always be known for its silver production over the centuries it was mined for uranium during the end of its time in operation. What we have here is a RARELY seen specimen of Torbernite from Jachymov featuring very small, plate-like, sage green, tabular tetragonal crystals of Torbernite which are associated with minor Parsonsite on host rock matrix. You need some magnification to better view the crystals, but we have photographed it with a Canon MP-E 65 macro lens to better illustrate the quality. If you collect radioactive minerals or specifically Czech / Jachymov minerals, don't miss out on this really attractive and incredibly hard to find specimen from this world famous orebody locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#6781). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
