Item Description
Sakhan-gyi is one of the best Topaz localities, not only in Myanmar, but any locality in Asia. The specimens from this locality are often lare, fine quality and gemmy, sometimes completely transparent. This piece is a really special example, the only one of its kind that I can remember seeing. The piece is a sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, white/colorless prismatic group with multiple terminations, showing good internal translucency, which is important because near the base you can see several orange colored dodecahedral/trapezohedral crystals of Garnet (presumably Grossular because that's the only Garnet species that mindat.org reports from the locality), completely frozen inside! I can't rememer seeing another Topaz like this from any locality in Myanmar before. The Topaz itself is in good condition, but there are a few rough spots, so it's not completely pristine. With that said, the piece is good-sized and showy and the incredibly rare Garnet inclusions make it all the more enticing. A really cool piece from this famous locality. Specimen weight is 114.3 grams. Valued $2,000.
