Item Description

A superb, very rich, colorful and desirable large old-time German combination from this historic tin mine, that closed in 1991. Striking, colorful, segmented prismatic sections of lustrous, translucent, lemon yellow topaz crystals variety pyknite cover all sides and are intermixed with contrasting zinnwaldite, a classic Mica Group variety. The impressive long crystals reach 11.2 cm. Pyknite is a rare topaz varietal found at only six localities worldwide (MINDAT). Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8365 and acquired from the Cisneros' in 1977. Previously from a German collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Combination specimens of this size, quality and richness are seldom on the market. Value?
