Item Description
A classic example of the rarely seen Pyknite specimens (a fine grained prismatic variety of Topaz) from the Zinnwald tin deposit which is located on the border with Germany and the Czech Republic. This miniature specimen featuring many beige colored crystals of Pyknite measuring up to 1.1 cm associated with Quartz. The main focal point of the piece is that the crystals have formed lovely radiating "sprays" on all sides. A choice and eye-catching representation of these very hard to find pieces from Zinnwald. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5985). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecor... ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
