Item Description
A fine quality, and rarely seen crystallized example of the rare prismatic / columnar crystals of stark yellow Topaz (var: "Pyknite"). This piece came labeled as coming from Cenovec / Zinnwald, but it's possbile that it may be from the Tin Mine, Altenberg, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany, as the pieces are similar to one another. This particular piece is a RICH sample of this elusive material loaded with attractive yellow color thin prismatic crystals of Pyknite which appear to be intergrown with thin layers of Mica (most likely Zinnwalidte). These are rarely available on the market, and certainly worth picking up if you collect old German classic, or worldwide Topaz specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5202). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017). A hard to find and unusual German classic from the famous locality. Valued at $850-$950.
