Item Description

A classic old Russian topaz and smoky quartz specimen, undoubtably dating to the time of the Czars. There are about 13, undamaged, gemmy and lustrous, classically shaped, light blue, topaz crystas scattered on the dramatic mounded matrix of coated smoky quartz crystals. The beautiful crowning and largest topaz is 1.5 cm. Scattered bruising and broken crystals are noted to both topaz and smokies, but in the overall context of this old-time showy and excellent combination piece, are certainly acceptable. This is a fine, very highly representative, old-time example of topaz and smoky quartz from this famous locale. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained from English dealer and collector Brian LLoyd for 120 pounds in 1976. NOT cheap in those days. RARE on the market in this richness and quality.
