Item Description

This is the first and ONLY specimen of Topaz that we've seen from this little known pegmatite occurrence. The piece is a fairly sharp, euhedral, soft blue and golden colored crystal free of matrix. Several well-formed faces are visible, but the piece is not 100% complete on the base and the back, where it was detached from the pocket wall. The piece somewhat reminds me of crystals from Zapot Claim in Nevada. If you collect pegmatite minerals, California minerals or worldwide Topaz, do NOT miss out on this chance to get your hands on this interesting specimen from this obscure locality in the Mohave Desert of California (northeastern San Bernardino County near the Nevada Border). Valued at $1,200 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
