Item Description

These beautiful Topaz specimens came out in the early 2000s and were short-lived, in terms of their obtainability on the market. Very few really good matrix pieces were available, and this piece is a great display specimen featuring a GEM QUALITY, colorless prismatic crystal measuring 1.7 cm, aesthetically flaring out of bladed cream-beige colored Albite matrix. The Topaz crystal is pristine, with GLASSY faces on all sides, save the termination which seems to have a bit of embedded pocket clay (the same material that is coating the Albite), but it creates a unique and pleasing contrasting against the bright, lustrous faces on the rest of the crystal. No damage, high quality and just plain different. A really cool example of these now very hard to find Topaz specimens from this pegmatite locality in southwestern China.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#168 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection for the coming months/years through our various platforms.
