Item Description
A lovely 6 mm, sharp, lustrous, gemmy Topaz crystal on bladed Albite ("Cleavelandite") matrix from the classic pegmatites in San Diego County, California. The Topaz is not 100% complete, but it does show some good crystal faces. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The pieces come with a typed label from Wulff that that states the piece was collected by Edwin Over, who was also one of the founding members of the CSMS. Considerin the Ed died in 1963, these specimens are AT LEAST 50 years old! A wonderfully historic specimen of this well-known old time material.
