Item Description

When it comes to historic Topaz localities in Europe, one of the great examples are the famous yellow / golden Topaz specimens from Schneckenstein in Saxony. These attractive and fairly hard to find pieces have been known for centuries, and you will see them appear in the old lithographs among the standard representations for Topaz (along with those from the Urals in Russia) in the world for that time. This beautiful small cabinet hosts a good sized, sharp, lustrous, soft yellow to golden colored crystal of Topaz measuring 2.7 cm long associated with white/colorless, prismatic Quartz crystals and smaller Topaz crystals on greisen matrix. I can't see any real damage of note with the naked eye, just a few tiny imperfections, that you really can't see without a loupe. It's not easy to find showy matrix specimens with a crystal that measures well over an inch like this anymore on the market. Priced in the inventory at $1,500.
From the collection of Colin Manlove.
