Item Description

Outstanding topaz specimens are rare from the seven localities, that MINDAT lists for Afghanistan compared to the more prolific Pakistan localites. A large, sharp, pristine, gemmy, 7.3 x 5.7 x 5.1 cm, crystal is dramatically attached to a field of pearlescent muscovite rosettes on this striking and aesthetic large combination specimen. The very glassy topaz is transparent to translucent and has light champagne color. The embedded muscovites add pizzazz. All of the prism faces are very glassy. Interestingly, part of the pinacoidal termination face is frosted. This is an exceptional and rare topaz from the Herb Obodda dealer stock. Herb valued this at $2500, more than 10 years ago. Valued today at $3000-3500.
