The Zapot Pegmatite (claim) is best known for its attractive and fine quality Topaz crystals, which are some of the best from the United States. This piece is a superb, fine quality, LARGE, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, well-formed silvery-blue and pale sherry and silvery-blue colored crystal of Topaz weighing in at a 857 grams! A really cool crystal of North American Topaz from this famous locality near Hawthorne. The crystal is mostly whole, with only a tiny bit of superficial nicks (aside from the back where it’s contacted), but rarely does one find a crystal of this size from locality, so you can forgive the fact that it’s not 100% complete. With that said, you can't deny that the overall size and weight are significant, especially for Nevada. How often do you see such large crystallized Topaz specimens from any North American locality!?
