Item Description
A classic old time Topaz specimen on matrix from this most famous of localities for the species. A SHARP, LUSTROUS, and VERY GEMMY nearly colorless prismatic Topaz crystal sits alongside a blocky off-white color Microcline crystal with bladed Muscovite. The Topaz measures 2.7 cm and is beautiful up close. It has a slight bit of internal crazing, but I can't see any real damage to the termination. Great quality overall, and showy and aesthetic for the material. Usually these crystals are not found on matrix. Good Russian Topaz specimens on matrix are always highly desired classics. This piece comes from an old East Coast collection and is accompanied by a label from recently deceased New York Mineral dealer, Larry Conklin. Originally valued by Larry 30+ years at $450, and worth A LOT MORE today.
