Topaz (Hefendehl Coll.)

Item Description

An excellent small cabinet piece from the historic Adun-Cholon Range in Russia that consists of several glassy, colorless to pale blue, gemmy to translucent Topaz crystals, and a few Smoky Quartz crystals. More than a dozen Topaz crystals grace this attractive cluster and all of them are glassy and super lustrous with light striations on the prism faces. The Topaz are both singly and doubly terminated ranging in size from 0.5 to 3.1 cm in length and there are two prominent doubly terminated crystals at the front of the piece. Several stubby, saturated Smoky Quartz crystals to 1.5 cm are intermixed with the Topaz in a few places for great accent. Topaz crystals have perfect textbook form with sharply formed prism and pyramid faces and have both gemmy and translucent areas in them, some have more gem areas than others. A small amount of iron staining adds character to the piece. An attractive combination specimen from a classic Russian locality that we rarely see examples from. Valued $1000-1200.
