Item Description
A beautiful, gemmy, classic, old-time untreated Topaz specimen from the famous Padre Paraiso locality. This very sharp, lustrous, well-formed crystal of natural (untreated) icy blue colored Topaz is one of the better examples of this material that we've had to offer recently in the auctions from this locality. With the exception of an unfortunately contact along the top of the edge where the pinacoid meets the steep prism face, the piece is essentially damage free. All sides (except the front) have a gentle coating of microscopic Muscovite mica which almost makes the piece a complete "floater" and it's nearly perfect alll the way around. I really love the gorgeous hydrothermal etching along the edges of the specimen, which make for a fantastic contrast of the beautifully well-formed, highly lustrous, smooth, glassy face on the front of the piece. Internally, the crystal is VERY GEMMY, nearly 100% water clear and looks beautiful in both sunlight and indoor light. A wonderful opportunity to pick up a piece if you're a gem crystal collector, a collector of Brazilian minerals, or if you just enjoy Topaz. The piece weighs 93.36 grams (466.81 carats).
