Item Description
A fine quality and notably hard to find Topaz specimen from Bald Mountain, New Hampshire. This excellent crystal was mined in 1979 from reworking of old pits. It is a good sized crystal with highly lustrous, sharp, well-formed faces, but the best aspect is that it is virtually WATER-CLEAR internally, which is rare in our limited experience with these crystals. The piece has a very pale icy blue color, with both glassy and matte, partially etched faces. The piece is in fairly good condition, though not damage-free, but largely complete and very impressive for this locality. If you collect gem pegmatite minerals, worldwide Topaz crystals or specifically minerals from New England, don't miss out on this excellent and rarely seen specimen from decades ago. Ex. Robert Whitmore Collection (#894). Specimen weight is 79.27 grams. Valued $2,500.
