Item Description

Another excellent quality specimen in this week's auction to give an opportunity for collectors to pick a fine piece for their collections. This is a GOOD quality, large, GEM (water - clear) crystal of the famous, but rarely seen sherry colored Topaz crystals from Mogok in Burma. This piece comes to us from the collection of well known Colorado collector, John Arnaud. The crystal is stout, thick and sharp with superb luster and highly desirable textbook orthorhombic form. The fact that it's nearly 100% transparent is remarkable, as many from this area are often "cloudy" in clarity, or without lustrous faces. This piece has it all from the standpoint of quality. One blemish on the backside of the piece along with a minor concoidal spot near the meeting of the {f 011} and {y 041} faces that keeps it from being 100% perfect, but it's still much better in size and quality than the majority of Topaz crystals from Burma that I've seen. The piece is valued at $4000-$5000 retail, and this is great opportunity to buy a fine gem crystal from a desirable locality for a good price. Enjoy!
