Item Description

Stunning, RARE Topaz and Fluorite combination from a 2021 find at a small mine near (but not at...) the better known Piaotang Mine in Jiangxi. A 3.7 cm, gemmy, light ice-blue topaz crystal with dense stepped-growth faces is aesthetically set on this most exotic small cabinet specimen. Nearby are amazing, bi-colored, translucent, satin luster, fantastically cross-hatched fluorite crystals with lavender outer areas and green centers and dramatically different crystal forms in the muscovite matrix. The lower compound CUBE is 2.0 x 1.8 cm and the striking, dominating CUBOCTAHEDRON at the top is 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.4 cm. There are sections of green fluorite on the back of the piece, as a bonus. The topaz has a partially cleaved frontal face, which is certainly only a minimal detraction to this remarkable combination rarity. Purple LW UV fluorite fluorescence. MINDAT lists three localities in the Xihuashan ore field with topaz reported, but there are NO photographic examples shown. A TRULY RARE and very showy combination. This is something we have simply not seen at other fluorite localities, beyond the odd eccentric specimen from Namibia perhaps. It is simply intellectually weird and interesting, and also not ugly!
