Topaz (fluorescent)

Rich golden-yellow fluorescence is an unexpected surprise on this dramatic, sharply terminated, pyramidal, orthorhombic topaz crystal from the well-known Zapot pegmatite. Interestingly, the gemmy/translucent gray crystal has two very glassy faces and two frosted/etched faces! Complete all-around and pristine. Two contacts are noted on the prism faces, one with embedded cleavlandite, but there is no damage, per se. The base is contacted and cleaved and the bit of embedded amazonite is a nifty accent. This is an uncommon and outstanding example of this style from the Zapot. 323 grams mass. Valued at $800-1000.
