Item Description
Here we have a classic sherry colored Topaz specimen from Pakistan. This area has long produced some of the finest Topaz specimens in recent memory from the standpoint of color, size, and gemminess. The piece hosts a pair of terrific, very sharp, textbook crystals of Topaz measuring with a classic saturated sherry color, free of matrix. I love the step / tiered shape of the piece, creating a very three-dimensional specimen. The color is strong for the size, but please note that these crystals can fade when exposed to light, so it's our suggestion to keep it in a closed dark box as much as possible. You don't see nearly as many of these pieces from Pakistan on the market as compared to several years ago. A fantastic small cabinet gem crystal specimen for any collector. Both terminations are in very good shape, but there is a tiny bit of roughness that can be seen upon close inspection, and the base is contacted where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. Specimen weight is 123.77 grams. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures". Valued at $2,000 in the inventory.
