Item Description

A wonderful and eye-catching classic sherry colored Topaz crystal from the Nyet Bruk locality in the famed Shigar District of Pakistan. This is a very gemmy, sharp, lustrous, stout crystal with a combination of smooth, well-formed faces on the prism, and etching patterns in the form of little "teeth"-like stepped faces on both terminations. The base of the crystal is re-crystallized ("re-healed"), so the piece is doubly-terminated, and virtully a complete "floater. A very good example of this classic material with excellent color and good internal transparency/translucency. Please note: These crystals can lose their color when exposed to light, so please try to keep it in a closed box as much as possible in order to retain the color. Valued $950.
This piece is from the personal collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar, the well-known mineral dealer and collector from Colorado (1946-2007). Rich was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite.
