Topaz, Cleavelandite and Quartz

This large combination matrix specimen from the Gene Meieran collection shows off literally the most classic style of Pakistani topaz specimen, with champagne-colored gem crystals nestled in a matrix of curving, sparkling, snow-white cleavelandite for a stunning contrast. The shape, texture, and geometries of the crystals are what make these combo specimens classics and unique, and both species must both have good form and balance as we see here. The piece is a large hand sized specimen, complete all around 360 degrees, and with NO repairs. Repairs seem to be particularly common in large topaz crystals from this location, and that the specimen has TWO fine crystals, balanced and flanking the middle so it displays well, is really unusual. Each crystal is gemmy, well colored, sharply terminated. The leftmost is actually doubly-terminated, as a bonus (you can see when you turn it around). Lastly, about the aesthetics - Both crystals are balanced to the matrix, and complementary in size at 5 cm (2 inches). Normally, these matrix specimens have either a single crystal (often repaired) or a busy look to them, where the topaz juts out at angles that are not flattering in relation to one another. This has it all. It is literally mine run, purchased by Gene directly from a source in Pakistan, and has never had another owner. Specimens like this are typically valued, at least at shows, in the $7500-12,500 range.
