Item Description

An attractive small cabinet specimen of this classic material featuring a handful of prismatic, sharp, highly lustrous, orthorhombic, prismatic Topaz crystals with a distinctive reddish-brown color (iron included) measuring up to 1.4 cm on matrix. These specimens are perhaps the most well known Topaz specimens from any Mexican, due to their easily recognizable form and attractive, unique color. Good quality, balance and aesthetics, and these Topaz crystals are not terribly easy to find on matrix, in specimens this size.
This piece was mined in the 1970s and comes from the collection of world famous mineral dealer Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), who was the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite.
