This is a very attractive treated blue Topaz cabochon from Brazil that features a detailed and eye-catching intaglio carving of a nymph in the back. I must note that the Topaz itself is naturally occurring material, but it has been irradiated in order to produce the blue color. This treatment is widely known and accepted in the gem world, and is not frowned upon, provided the buyer is aware that they are purchasing a treated stone. A great stone for a collector, or it could be set into a pendant, to create a gorgeous piece of jewelry.
