Item Description

A large, complex topaz crystal showing amazing surface sparkle and internal brightness, this is a Burma mineral classic. It is unusual compared to more modern finds in that it is wide and thick, and has a complex termination that looks like it has scallop shapes in it, highly unusual for a Burma topaz and more reminiscent of a Ukraine heliodor, to my eye. The patterns are lovely and that top surface really makes the piece. It is nearly gem clean inside and cutting quality, with only a few veils and a few slender needles of black inclusions (presumably, schorl). This is one of the earlier crystals out of Burma, purchased from dealer Cal Graeber long ago (for $2000, in the 1990s). It has a really nice presence to it, again because of the shocking clarity and colorlessness. 375 grams.
