Item Description
Here we have an attractive full-sized thumbnail sized specimen of gemmy sherry colored Topaz specimen from Pakistan. Going back to the 1990s, we would see various localities in the high mountains of Pakistan (like Dassu) producing some of the finest Topaz specimens from anywhere in the world in terms of color, crystal form, quality size and gemminess. This specimen was mined in the mid 1990s, and is a very sharp, lustrous crystal of Topaz with excellent transparency in areas. The color is a light sherry hue, but please note that these crystals can turn colorless with exposure to light, so we encourage you to keep it in closed dark box as much as possible to retain the color. There are fine quality, well-formed faces which are smooth, glistening luster and alternating matte luster on other faces. A very nice representative piece of this lovely material. From the collection of Colorado mining legend, Dave Bergman. Dave is now retired, but among other things, he was the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s. He is also the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar. See Dave's photo mining at the Sweet Home on page 58 of Peter Bancroft's book "Gem and Crystal Treasures".
