Item Description
Brazil is certainly of the most mineral-rich countries in the world. The state of Minas Gerais alone has nearly 600 reported species according to mindat.org. With that said, Titanite is not often the first species that people think of when it comes to Brazilian minerals, but some of the finest quality crystals in the world come from Capelinha. Some of the best examples feature well-formed twins measuring to several cm on matrix. This piece features a few classic twinned Titanite crystals measuring up to 4.1 cm, which are almost completely coated with pseudo-metallic dark grey "Chlorite" and sitting on a matrix of minor cream colored Feldspar and rich green prismatic Epidote. The two main Titanite twins are in good shape, and there is a bit of attached Epidote on the top of the more upright twin, but it's not damaged. Very showy and good quality for the material. It's not easy to get your hands of three-dimensional cabinet display pieces like this. Valued $1,250.
