Item Description

Tormiq is one the most well-known and prestigious "Alpine-type" cleft deposits in the high mountains of Pakistan. The specimens / minerals found at this locality are notably similar, and in some cases superior to their true Alpine counterparts from Europe. This piece is a fine quality example of the famous Titanites from Tormiq, featuring sharp, well-formed, vibrant green colored, twinned crystals of Titanite measuring up to 1.0 cm, associated with white rhombic crystals of Calcite, along with bladed crystals of dark silvery-grey "Chlorite" on matrix. The main Titanite twin is doubly-terminated and looks great up close. Very minor imperfections can be seen under magnification, but I can't see any major damage with the naked eye. These specimens are now very seldom seen on the market, as the deposits have largely been mined out, at least the material that's closest to the surface, so without more industrious methods of collecting, there probably won't be any more of them in any quantity for the foreseeable future.
