Titanite (twins) on matrix (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Many classic, slender, sharp, lustrous, translucent green twinned Titanites measuring up to 1.7 on matrix from the famous locality at Capelinha. Very minor roughness around the edges to some of the crystals, but good quality for the material. One rarely sees a lot of crystals packed onto the matrix like this piece. A great old time example of this hard to find material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8925). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
