Item Description

Titanite was known by the archaic name "Sphene" for a long time, which comes from the Greek sphen, meaning "wedge". This is a perfect example of a "wedge"-shaped Titanite, and it's even twinned to boot. It's a very narrow crystal, but still retains excellent form. It's nearly transparent with an alluring mix of golden-brown and greenish-yellow hues swirling around inside. The reentrant angle of the twin can be seen along one of the edges. It's not 100% perfect, but still is a great example of GEM quality crystallized Titanite. This locality produced these specimens for a short time about 10 years ago, and they seem to have dried up now. If you collect thumbnails, gem crystals, or attractive twinned crystals, don't miss out on this one.
