Item Description

Faceted Titanite has one of the higher refractive indices in the gem world (as high as 2.11, making it higher than Zircon, Demantoid or even Scheelite!) Sometimes you'll see Titanite gems referred to as "Sphene" but it is an archaic term although both are generally accepted in the gem and mineral world. Most often, it seems to me that "Sphene" is used in the gem world and Titanite is used for crystallized specimens. This gem is a beautiful golden color, very very slightly included "Trillion Brilliant" cut gem. from Mulla Ghori. This is one of the few Pakistani Titanites that we've had to offer in the auctions in recent months. The stone would make a great addition to any collection for the lovely color and wonderful dispersion.
