Item Description
This specimen is highly unusual in shape, color, and luster - but it is indeed a titanite and from the classic epidote locality in Tormiq. In fact, the titanite here is formed as a floater perched atop a stalk of AXINITE that sticks out the bottom, like a natural pedestal. So, we have a really unusual crystal perched atop axinite in a really unusual association! Complete all around except for a few small contacts. It is translucent when strongly lit, as well. Impossible to value, a totally unique piece from the Meieran collection - assembled over 40 years to represent a comprehensive suite from contemporary finds in Pakistan and Afghanistan over that time.
