Item Description

The pink arrow points toward a 1.0 cm vug, that hosts three gemmy golden yellow titanite crystals, to 3 mm, contrasting sharp black augite crystals, to 4 mm, and a few classic rich blue, gemmy hauyne microcrystals. Other vugs in the sculptural sanidine small cabinet matrix host more titanite, hauyne and augite crystals. The matrix is also peppered with tiny hauyne and augite crystals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5224 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Probably from the well-known In den Dellen quarries, where collecting is now strictly forbidden. Classic combination material from the locale.
