Item Description
Pakistan has produced a great variety of Titanite specimens, in a great range of colors and habits. Some of the varying finds include disc-like, tabular pinkish crystals and steep, honey colored wedge shaped crystals, but the most popular and attractive of all the of Titanites from this area would have to be the green crystals. These are "Alpine-type" Titanite crystals, and the would be worth a great deal to any Alpine collector if there were found in Austria, Italy or Switzerland. In fact, these specimens are so indicative of true Alpine pieces, one can sometimes have a great deal of difficulty trying to discern which pieces are from Pakistan and which are from the Alps. This specimen features a 7 mm sharp, lustrous, vibrant green color, "wedge"-shaped of Titanite associated with sharp, lustrous, gemmy to translucent colorless crystals of Albite included with grey-green Clinochlore, plus modified silvery-white crystals of Calcite along with a few minor white tabular crystals of Prehnite, plus a couple gemmy golden-green prisms of Epidote on matted, and fibrous pale silvery-blue color acicular "Byssolite" matrix. This specimen is a very attractive small cabinet association specimen and these piece are some of the most difficult to obtain from Pakistan in fine quality specimens. I have not seen many good Titanites from Pakistan in recent years, and this piece is definitely from an older find.
