Item Description
Sharply terminated, untwinned titanite from this classic Swiss locale. The tabular, lustrous, translucent, spearpoint thumbnail has pretty variable yellow-green color and is partially included and coated with micro chlorite crystals. Previously from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his labeled on the bottom "Perky box"). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 774 and acquired in the 1950s or 60s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A remarkable and rare older titanite from this locale. A famous locality, but specimens of this quality and form are quite rare.
