Item Description

Titanite has one of the highest levels of dispersion in the gem world, higher than diamond. It is not often seen in gem quality material, and stones are typically golden, brown, yellow or rarely greenish-yellow. A small amount of gem quality Titanite contains chromium, giving it the strongest green color you'll find in the material. These gems are often called "Chrome Sphene", but the mineralogically correct term is Chromium-bearing Titanite. With that said, there are few places in the world where good stones are found, and this particular gem is a wonderful example out of an old find in Mexico from decades ago. The stone is a little "Trillion" cut gem with intense green color and a very slight inclusions. These gems are sometimes marketed as "Mexican Emeralds", but they share nothing in common with Emerald other than the green color. They are honestly rarer than Emerald in my experience, as good "Chrome Sphenes" are incredibly difficult to find on the market.
