Titanite

Item Description

The Gamsberg area mines are known more for Rutile and some gemmy minerals, but the mine has also produced some very fine Titanites. This particular twin has portions of very good gemminess, but the crystal faces vary from superbly lustous to either etched or slightly included by Feldspar. That maskes some of the gemminess. The piece itself is very 3-dimensional and complete, save for the contacted bottom, naturally. A decent representative for the species and location.
