Item Description

When it comes to European Alpine Titanite specimens, Austria has produced the best examples, both in terms of quality, but also in color and size. This piece is from the Kals am Großglockner area in the Kalsertal of the Hohe Tauern National Park, where many fine Titanites have been found over the years. The label accompanying this piece states it was collected in the early 2000s, and is a good representative specimen featuring a sharp, lustrous, well-formed, thin "wedge"-shaped crystal of a bright yellow-green hue measuring 1.0 cm long, lying flat against the matrix. No damage I can see, and the crystal is very attractive up close.
