Titanite

Item Description

Titanite is a calcium titanium silicate mineral. A good portion of all Titanite you'll see around the world is not really gem quality, so gemmy material is prized by collectors. Titanite has the distinction of having a notably high birefringence and refractive index, so stones are often quite lively and brilliant. For reference, TItanite is often labeled as "Sphene", which is an outdated term, but still fairly widely used in the gem world. This little stone is a light golden colored "Round Brilliant" cut gem with moderate inclusions.
