Item Description
Delicate and refined in its beauty, this chalk-white cluster of Tincalconite crystals is from the Baker Mine in Boron, an area famous for its extensive evaporite deposits. Tincalconite, pure white and soft, forms from the dehydration of Borax and retains the original habit exceptionally well. The largest of the crystals is 5 cm across, and the aesthetics of this cluster, dominated by the three large crystals, is outstanding. A unique oddity from the USA's boron deposit. Collected mostly by Jim Minette when he was mine manager there in the 1960s and 1970s, few are for sale, anymore. This is subtle but special.
