Item Description

An excellent specimen of a rare species from Searles Lake, California, the Type Locality and the Al Ordway Collection. A sharp, blocky, doubly terminated, borax crystal is pseudomorphed by snow-white tincalconite. The textbook floater crystal is nearly pristine, with trivial termination edge wear on a back edge and modest bruising on the lower termination. Tincalconite is a rare borate and these specimens are very rare from the Type Locality. Seldom on the worldwide market today, and this is from one of the major California collections assembled when they came out.
