Item Description
Impressive raised finely detailed and well-executed carved tiger head on this lustrous polished, muted wine-red textbook hexagonal, corundum (ruby) slice from deposits in the Longido District of Tanzania. The District is well-known for ruby and green zoisite combinations and art carvings of both species. Modest cherry-red fluorescence. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection. A strange, mineral-related oddity, we purchased in part of the collection! 65 grams of ruby.
