Item Description
From a brand new discovery in January 2019, here we have some exciting specimens of electric pink Thulite (manganian Zoisite) from a tunnel construction at Snillfjord. Thulite has been reported from more localities in Norway than any other country, and even the type locality for Thulite is is Norway. Thulite used to be considered a valid species, but is now defined as a manganese-bearing variety of Zoisite. The material is considered maganian not manganoan because the manganese content in Thurlite is trivalent instead of being divalent. This piece features a rich patch of glowing salmon pink colored Thulite on Quartz matrix. The Thulite is crystalline, not fully crystallized, but the color is what really matters here. You just don't see this electric shade of pink in the mineral world! A great piece to add to a rarities collection or a suite of Norwegian minerals.
