Item Description

This is an incredibly hard to find specimen from the world-famous Wessels Mine featuring a 3.0 cm spherical aggregate of cream-colored Thomsonite (technically Thomsonite subgroup as the exact species is not identified, it's either Thomsonite-Ca or Thomsonite-Sr) sitting atop beautifully contrasting, rich red-orange bladed groups of Inesite, with a bit of associated, gemmy, colorless crystals of Hydroxyapophyllite-(K). This combo is almost impossible to find from this mine, and this particular piece is one of the best examples we've had to offer from this renowned mine in the Kalahari Manganese Field, and quite possibly the best one associated with Inesite. I value this one highly, in the range of about $2,500-$3,000 for size, quality and rarity. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on mindat.org at https://www.mindat.org/photo-191918.html
