Item Description
About 10 years ago there were some new finds of the rare Zeolite species Thomsonite in Aurangabad, India. Most people are probably familiar with the rather smooth spheres that are found on basalt, but these specimens don't get the attention they deserve for their size and quality! Outside of the New Jersey Trap Rocks, these Thomsonites from Aurangabad are arguably the finest examples of the species extant. This is a fantastic display specimen from the same locality featuring a dozens of semi-velvety radiating spheres of Thomsonite measuring up to 3.2 cm sitting green and brown contrasting basalt. The best aspect of the piece is the fact that it's not the ordinary white hue that is often seen in Thomsonite, but it shows a rare and beautiful rosy PINK hue that is nearly unheard of for the species. A wonderful dispaly piece of one of the rarer Zeolite species out there. No damage outside of a bit along the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. Priced in the inventory at $1,800.
