Item Description

Thomsonite, a zeolite, is generally known only in Ireland from the famous basalts in Northern Ireland. This very rare old specimen, though, is from a thin strip of volcanics found near the coast in southeastern Ireland at Kilpatrick, County Wexford. Numerous vugs, to 2.3 cm, on all sides of the basalt matrix are lined with glassy, white thomsonite crystals. Comes with a faded old label from the 1800s to early 1900s. A must for the locality or species collector.
