Item Description

Rounded, water-worn specimens of Thomsonite, found along the shores of Lake Superior, are quite well-known and equally unusual. When fortunate, as we are here, the Thompsonite displays the typical "eye" pattern that reflects the radial growth. The rich pinkish-peach color is attractive, and it serves to enhance the numerous 'eyes' in this nodule. Impressively sized at 4.3 cm, this miniature was previously in the collection of the American Museum of Natural History. ex George Elling Collection.
