Thomsenolite on Cryolite (rare halide - Type Locality)

Item Description

Thomsenolite is a rare, complex halide and Ivigtut is the Type Locality. This very rich old-timer is mostly lustrous, translucent, white to colorless, prismatic crystals in crevasses and vugs (some also containing cubic cryolite). Probably collected around 1900 as with most of this old material on several famous expeditions there, but no proof. Comes with an old faded and torn label from the F. McDaniel Collection. Excellent, classic and very rich rare material.
